Important Information
What a session looks like
Classes run for 30 minutes.
Each activity is set to its own catchy song, accompanied by Daphne on the piano, so children learn what comes next by the music. The movements are chosen to help develop fine and gross motor skills.
You stay with your child the whole time.
Afterwards there's a cuppa for parents and carers. Stay for five minutes or so. It's an easy way to meet other families who are travelling a similar journey. You can ask Daphne any questions you may have.
Who runs it
Daphne Proietto OAM, who has taught music to students with disabilities and diverse learning needs for 25 years.
Daphne has been running music and movement classes for kindergarten children at PLC for decades.
Keys of Life is a registered Melbourne charity that furthers Daphne's work through offering teacher training, concerts and social music groups for young people with disabilities and/or who are neurodivergent for many years.
This Music and Movement class is new for 2026 and the first Keys of Life program for early years children. We hope you and your family can take part in this new program.
What if...
It's ok. Some children may take a few weeks to warm up. Sit together at the edge of the room and just watch, or step outside and come back. Daphne is very experienced and responds sensitively to however children react.
Stay as long as you like, and go whenever you need to. No explanation needed.
Watching is taking part. Daphne will encourage them gently to join in at a pace that suits their needs.
Your child's place is held for the whole term. Come back when you can. We might reach out just to make sure everything is OK. If you can no longer attend, please let us know so we can offer the place to someone else.
No diagnosis is needed. If your child would benefit, they're welcome.
No problem. They don't need to speak for this class.
Common Questions
Do I stay with my child?
Yes. A parent or carer stays for the whole class.
What is the space like?
It's a carpeted church foyer with space to move. We keep the group small, the pace gentle and the sound volume comfortable for all.
What if my child needs a break?
Completely fine. Step out and come back whenever you need. There's no pressure to join in every activity.
What if it's not right for us?
It’s ok if the class just doesn't suit your child. Come once and see. You can also discuss any concerns with Daphne before or after class, if you want to.
What should we bring?
Nothing. All materials are provided
Is there parking?
There's a big car park with even ground and an accessible entrance.
Is it really free?
Yes, it is. There is nothing to pay and no NDIS plan or referral is needed. Keys of Life is a registered charity, and we have received funding from the Barr Family Foundation to run this program free of charge.
What happens after I book?
