Teaching instrumental music to neurodiverse students

This introductory course will cover how to get started when you’re teaching instrumental music to students with autism, ADHD and/or other additional learning needs.

Presenter.
Daphne Proietto OAM, BMus Ed, Licentiate, Diploma Music Therapy, Diploma Dalcroze Eurythmics, STEAA level 1 certificate

Daphne has been teaching piano to children with disabilities and diverse learning needs for over twenty-five years. In the early days, word quickly travelled around musical circles that she was producing amazing outcomes for children with autism. Since 2017, she has been passing on her knowledge and wisdom to other music teachers through the not-for-profit foundation, Keys of Life, with the aim of giving more neurodiverse children the gift of music.

In this course you will:

  • learn about what Daphne does in the first lesson

  • view live/recorded lessons taught by Daphne

  • find out Daphne’s Top 10 hints for teaching neurodiverse students

  • listen to a parent share tips for addressing anxiety

  • participate in a Q&A.
